The Eden Diet - A Biblical and Merciful Anti-Dieting Weight Loss Support Group

One of my doctor friends has an inspirational picture in his office about perseverance. It shows a valley that was carved out of a mountain by a rushing stream of water. The caption below the picture says, “In the battle of the stream versus the rock, the stream always wins.”

Let’s think about how this stream (and the concept of perseverance) relate to weight loss. The stream doesn’t flow equally strongly all the time. Sometimes the water flows with greater fervor than at other moments. But eventually, despite its relative inconsistency, it erodes through the rock and creates a valley if it’s given enough time.

What does this mean in regard to your weight loss journey? Perseverance is more important than perfection. You might go through periods where you lose weight steadily, while at other times, your weight loss slows down. You might even gain a few pounds back when you’re doing everything right. Don’t let this demoralize you. Just keep doing what you’re doing and everything will turn out all right.
